BIO: Fitness became a huge part of my life after the birth of my first baby. I was struggling to lose weight so I started running and doing pilates. I spent years running distance races, including an ultramarathon (50k), 3 marathons and 13 half-marathons. I loved it, but I faced several running-related injuries and had to hang up my distance running shoes for awhile. I decided to start building my body during that time. I wanted to make it stronger to protect against further injuries. Once I began weight-training, I was hooked! I had never experienced such drastic changes in my strength and physique! I believe that distance running helped me to gain the mental strength to be able to push myself hard in the gym. I decided to compete for the first time in the spring of 2012, where I took 3rd place in my novice class, and 5th in Masters. That REALLY got me hooked and I was determined to continue building and competing. I was lucky to find a wonderful coach and she taught me how to be a successful competitor!
